According to Yonhap News,

Ulsan-si announced on April 1 that it was selected as the final winner for the '2022 Regional Tourism Business Support Center Construction Project' hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST).

The regional tourism business support center is a facility aimed at systematically discovering and fostering regional tourism businesses and creating jobs by inducing the demand for tourism start-ups, which tend to be concentrated in the metropolitan area.

Ulsan was selected along with Gwangju, Gyeongbuk and Jeollabuk-do in this public competition.

The city plans to select the Ulsan Tourism Organization (UTO) as the operator and build the tourism business support center of 1,038 square meters on the first basement floor of the Ulsan Exhibition and Convention Center (UECO) by September.

As for the project cost, it is expected that a total of KRW 10 billion will be invested over the next five years.

In the Tourism Business Support Center, there will be a dedicated space optimized for establishing and fostering tourism start-ups, an open space where various ideas can be shared and communicated, and a smart office where smart meetings, information sharing, and digital PR are possible.

In particular, since the center will be built inside the UECO, various facilities such as exhibition halls and conference rooms can be used. Also, it will be easier to obtain related information as participation in various exhibitions, forums, and conferences are accessible.

The city, by operating the Tourism Business Support Center, plans to support the quantitative and qualitative growth of the tourism industry by supporting the growth of companies and creating connected jobs through establishment and development of tourism startups, improvement of established tourism companies, operation of tourism jobs hub, and support for revitalization of local tourism industry.
