According to Yonhap News,

Ulsan-si announced that K&D Energen, with which it signed an investment agreement to construct hydrogen gas production plant in December last year, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the plant on June 25 at a site in the Onsan National Industrial Complex in Ulju-gun.

According to the city, the hydrogen gas production facility will be constructed on a 33,000 ㎡ site in the Onsan National Industrial Complex with an investment of KRW 218. 5 billion.

The plant is scheduled to be completed in April 2026.

The city explained that the plant will be able to produce 92,000 N㎥ of hydrogen per hour, the largest in Korea's commercial production facilities, once it is completed.

The hydrogen gas produced in this factory will be mostly supplied to Shaheen Project of S-Oil.

It will also be supplied across domestic industries that use commercial hydrogen gas, including electronic and electric sectors such as semiconductors, steel, and petrochemical areas.

Ulsan's mayor said, "with the groundbreaking ceremony today for the largest hydrogen production plant in Korea, Ulsan will take the lead in solidifying the foundation for the hydrogen ecosystem, opening the eco-friendly energy era and sustainable future of our city".
