According to Yonhap News,

A factory that produces up to 5 million parts of safety devices for secondary batteries per month has been built in Bancheon General Industrial Complex in Ulsan, a secondary battery-specialized complex.

Ulsan-si announced on August 12 that the completion ceremony of the Shinheung SEC Ulsan plant will be held today in Bancheon General Industrial Complex in Eonyang-eup, Ulju-gun.

Shinheung SEC, headquartered in Osan, Gyeonggi-do, is listed on KOSDAQ, producing various metal parts for secondary batteries in Yangsan, Gyeongnam-do, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, and Gijang, Busan.

The completion of the Ulsan plant is in accordance with the MOU on investment to establish a new plant to produce parts for secondary batteries, signed with Ulsan-si in August last year.

A total of KRW 80.4 billion (KRW 11 billion for construction, KRW 62 billion for facilities, KRW 7.4 billion for improving working environment facilities) was put into a site of 13,000 square meters.

Ulsan-si explained that the completion of the construction, which began in September last year, was initially scheduled for December this year, but moved 4 months forwards due to active administrative and financial support such as rapid licensing.

Shinheung SEC Ulsan plant is able to produce up to five million safety device parts for prismatic batteries per month.

All the parts produced in the plant will be supplied to Star Plus Energy, a joint venture between Samsung SDI and Stellantis Motors, located in Indiana.

The city expects the completion of the Ulsan plant to create more than 200 new jobs.
