According to Yonhap News,
(ULSAN = Yonhap News) — Ulsan's exports in July increased from last year, driven by strong performance in key items such as petroleum products, petrochemicals, and ships.
According to the July import and export trend released by the Ulsan Customs Service on August 18, export value reached USD 9.04 billion, a 20.3 percent increase compared to the same month last year.
By item, export volume of petroleum products declined, but higher unit prices pushed total export value up 34.6 percent year-on-year to USD 2.89 billion.
Petrochemicals recorded USD 1.41 billion, a 21.3 percent increase, as both export volume and unit prices rose.
Ships posted USD 970 million, up 15.6 percent, thanks to an increase in delivery volume.
Conversely, automobile exports fell 1.4 percent to USD 1.88 billion due to lower shipments to major export destinations such as the United States.
Imports rose 43.4 percent year-on-year to USD 7.55 billion, driven by higher imports of crude oil and petroleum products.
Crude oil, which accounts for the largest share among imported items, surged 54.7 percent to USD 4.3 billion due to increases in both volume and unit prices.
The trade balance posted a surplus of USD 1.49 billion, maintaining a streak of 142 consecutive months in the black since October 2014.
