According to Yonhap News,

Ulsan-based small and medium enterprises (SMEs) turned out to have benefited from Ulsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI)'s supports for them to win the United Nations (UN)-led project orders, according to the UCCI.

For one, Long Bridge was selected as the final bidder for a 250,000 dollar-electric cable project conducted by the African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur last year.

Long Bridge expects the project to serve as an opportunity to make inroad into large markets including the U.S. and EU as well as supply its high-quality products to international agencies under the umbrella of the UN.

Another SME Sinsan is waiting for the bidding results for Haiti's water treatment plant project conducted by the United Nations Office for Project Services.

The UCCI helped Sinsan complete contract registration, search bidding projects and write application forms and contracts.

This year, the UCCI also selected several SMEs including KUKIL INNTOT, JM motors, JIN-ASIA CORPORATION, CHANG SHIN INTERNATIONAL and SONGWON MECHANICAL GROUP to provide necessary supports to participate in the global bidding.

As of 2010, the total projects conducted by international agencies under the umbrella of the UN were worth about 16.7 trillion won.

"We will work hard to help our regional SMEs penetrate into the overseas market," said an official of the UCCI.
