According to the Ulsan Metropolitan Government, a consortium established by SK E&C and KEPCO E&C recently proposed the building of an offshore wind power complex with a production capacity of 196㎿. The project suggested by the consortium is to construct 28 7㎿ wind power generators in the sea.

Last year, SK E&C collected basic information about the site, such as the amount of wind, wind speed, duration of wind blows, and density. Based on the data, it concluded that the coastal waters near Jeongja-dong in Ulsan are the most appropriate site in which to build the complex.

SK E&C and KEPCO E&C plan to start construction in 2015 and operate the complex for 25 years from 2017. The estimated construction cost is KRW 800 billion.

The municipal government will decide whether to approve the project after collecting and considering the opinions of fishermen and residents.
