Ulsan Prepares to Become a Global Logistics Hub

Ulsan city finalized its basic logistics plan with an approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

Based on Ulsan’s vision of a logistics hub with a maximized industrial competitiveness, the plan has three goals, six strategies and 123 projects.

With a total investment of KRW 20.4 trillion, 14 projects in facility enhancement and improvement (KRW 2.6494 trillion), 83 projects in logistics system development (KRW 17.6928 trillion) and two projects in logistics improvement plan for districts (KRW 500 million).

Ulsan will also promote seven projects in logistics competitiveness enhancement (KRW 22.2 billion), nine projects in logistic efficiency improvement (KRW 12 billion) and eco-friendly logistics system development (KRW 20.4 billion).

Total 83 networks of roads and railways will also be built.

Ulsan also aims at building logistics infrastructure including shared garages for trucks and rest areas. Distribution complexes will be established in port hinterlands and inner transportation centers.

The plan includes logistics informatization, roads, freight facilities, an academy to foster talents, a team dedicated to logistics-related affairs, eco-friendly transportation and eco-friendly logistics facilities will also be promoted.

The city will review strategies by division in depth to use as an index to develop new policies for logistics industry facilitation, and work on items based on their priority.

An Ulsan official noted that the basic logistics strategy will help Ulsan to become a global logistics hub which connects Russia, China and Japan.
