Ulsan SMEs Penetrate Overseas Markets

Ulsan City announced that it sent 176 small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by the end of August to make export consultations of USD 267.34 million and contracts of USD 74.05 million. This is a growth of USD 40.05 million from last year.

Ulsan sent six trade missions, which 45 SMEs participated in, to Germany and other advanced markets and emerging markets such as India, Malaysia and Turkey, leading to 411 business consultations and export contracts of USD 23 million.

The city also sent 74 companies to Brazil, Malaysia, Vietnam to participate in exhibitions, observing 1,017 business consultations and 93 contracts of USD 21.41 million.

It is also significant to note that Ulsan sent six companies to Brazil to attend the Automotive Parts & Accessories Trade Shows Sao Paulo 2013 to bring consultations of USD 34.70 million and contracts of USD 4.30 million.

It is an achievement for Ulsan following its export contracts of USD 560,000 by sending a trade mission last year for the first time. Based on these achievements, Ulsan plans to actively support regional SMEs to penetrate the Brazilian market.

In addition, total 57 companies participated in tailored export consultation sessions with invited foreign buyers. The city also invited Asian buyers to see consultations of USD 15.88 million and contracts of USD 1.82 million.

To keep its momentum, the city will send additional four trade missions consisting of 40 companies by the end of the year, starting with eight companies to Commonwealth of Independent States.

It will also send 18 companies to three major exhibitions overseas.

The Ulsan Expo Plaza will be also held from October 8 with 34 foreign buyers who have purchasing power in the fields of automobile, chemical, shipbuilding and machinery in Southeast Asia.

Ulsan is receiving applications from regional SMEs those wish to have one-on-one consultations with the foreign buyers who plan to visit.

Last year’s Ulsan Export Plaza invited 31 foreign buyers from six countries, leading to 219 consultations of USD 30.96 million and contracts of USD 26.24 million.
