Ulsan Held Korea-Russia Industrial Investment Forum

(ULSAN = Newsis) Ulsan held an investment forum to discuss technological cooperation with Russia to expand infrastructure of the regional industries.

“Korea-Russia Industrial Investment Cooperation Forum”, which was hosted by the city of Ulsan, Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by Ulsan Technopark (Ulsan TP) and Ulju-gun, was held on 26th in Lotte Hotel in Ulsan.

Almost 200 attended the forum including 28 Russian scientists and local industrial-educational personnel. The forum aimed to exchange Russia’s high cutting-edge technology such as applications of plasma with local enterprises.

Shin Dong-sik, President of Ulsan TP, delivered congratulatory address and provided introduction of economic trends in Russia and status reports on industrial investment cooperation between two nations.

During the forum, Professor Andrei Anatolievich of Tomsk Polytechnic University introduced seven Russian plasma technologies.

Professor Anatoly of Novosibirsk State Technical University and eight other Russian scientists also announced new technologies in the fields of shipbuilding and machinery.

Site visits and technology consultation sessions were carried out for more than nine local companies on 27th.

The city of Ulsan hoped that the forum would become the opportunity for local companies to develop their global technological competitiveness by connecting local businesses and Russian research institutes through technological exchanges in the fields of plasma, energy materials, IT and Nano industries.

Ulsan TP invited 20 Russian scientists in the industry of advanced technology in May 2012 to hold 28th International Science & Technological Center Korean Workshop. The city also held “1st Korea-USA International Tech Forum” in October 2012 with the professors of the Georgia Institute of Technology and the California Institute of Technology.

Ulsan TP also seeks to promote Open Innovation in the European countries such as the Czech Republic.

“Businesses who are interested in Russia’s cutting-edge technology have already asked for consultations. The forum will be able to provide 120 information packages of Russian technology and will accept application for consultation” City official said.

Russian scientists arrived in Ulsan on 25th and attended the forum on 26th, and visited businesses in the relevant industry on 28th. The group departed on 29th.
