Ulsan Kicks off Hydrogen Energy Development Project

(ULSAN = Yonhap News) Ulsan Technopark Fine Chemical Industry Center held a meeting with officials of eight relevant authorities and corporations including Korea Gas Safety Corporation and Senko Co., Ltd. on February 3 to a development projects for technologies related to hydrogen safety.

The Korean government will invest a total of KRW four billion for three years to establish a technological foundation for hydrogen safety.

Technopark and the authorities discussed details about their four key projects related to hydrogen safety and set up an annual plan during the meeting.

It was also agreed to push ahead projects that focus on the development of hydrogen sensor, brittle solids, byproduct hydrogen and others with Ulsan Hydrogen Town.

Ulsan Hydrogen Town was established last July in Onsan-eup, Ulju-gun. It consumes byproduct hydrogen produced by Onsan National Industrial Complex as its key fuel to produce 185kW with 140 fuel cells in the complex of LS-NIKKO Copper’s company houses, and 195kW with two fuel cells at Onsan-eup Office.
