Ulsan Establishes Promotion Strategy for Creative Economy

(ULSAN=NEWSIS) Ulsan City announced March 18 that it has established a promotion strategy for the creative economy to improve the fundamentals of its regional economy.

The promotion strategy includes improving the competitiveness through the advancement of core industries, diversifying the industrial spectrum through developing new growth engines and building creative economy-related infrastructure.

The city will execute 11 projects to improve the competitiveness of the core industries.

It will establish a research and development (R&D) center for 3D printing application eco-friendly automobile parts by 2019 and develop high efficient light vehicle parts and materials by 2018.

It will also build a R&D and green car technology center for core parts of long distance electric vehicles.

The city has selected 13 new growth engine industries including oil hub financial infrastructure, secondary battery, hydrogen fuel cells, decommissioning of nuclear power plant, animation, 3D printing, bio-medical, high-tech carbon, service, high-tech sensor, bio- chemical, nano-convergence and MICE.

The city will establish an industrial technology museum by 2020 to introduce the history of Korea’s industrial growth and prepare for the future industries.

It will also open an international school in 2018 to improve the settlement conditions of foreign residents to build a foundation to create a global economic hub and promote foreign investment.
