Daejeon City signed
an MOU with six regional IT companies including Hitecom on the relocation and
investment into the first-phase industrial facility site in Daedeok Innopolis.
Daejeon Mayor Yeom
Hong-cheol, CEO Jang Sun-taek of Hitecom, CEO Choi Dong-jin of Dongjin, CEO
Yeo Gwan-gu of Soft I Tech, CEO Jeong Hae-yeong of PRZONE, CEO Kim Yeong-ryeol
of KSEEK, and CEO Kim Jeong-bin of Raytron signed the MOU.
Those companies
will move into Jukdong District of Daedeok Innopolis and form ‘IT convergence
cluster.’ They plan to utilize the infrastructure of Daedeok Innopolis, push
forward joint technology development projects, exchange technologies with universities
and research institutes, and hold technology seminars.
Daejeon City expects
that the companies will contribute to the regional economy and job creation
by establishing a center to nurture software professionals, developing programs
to foster excellent human resources, and implementing projects to educate and
train about 100 talents annually for on-site operation.
Raytron, a foreign-invested
company which has won an award for achieving export of 10 million last year,
plans to invest KRW 12 billion in Sinseong District of Daedeok Innopolis and
expand its production facilities for optical semiconductors and LEDs. Other
IT companies have recently made investment to expand their facilities in Daedeok
Innopolis.
An official of Daejeon
said “we expect the IT companies will generate synergy effects by moving into
the Daedeok Innopolis,” and added “we will spare no support to promote Daedeok
Innopolis into the Silicon Valley of Asia.”
