South Korea's Incheon International Airport has been named the world's best
airport for the seventh consecutive year in 2011, the government said
Tuesday.
The Incheon airport, the main gateway to Seoul, ranked the
highest in the annual airport service quality (ASQ) report by the Airports
Council International (ACI), according to the Ministry of Land, Transport and
Maritime Affairs.
The South Korean airport is the world's first
airport to be ranked the highest in the annual ASQ report for seven years in a
row, it added.
"Holding the world's best airport title for seven
straight years would not have been possible without the painstaking efforts by
all 35,000 workers at the airport and the government's full support," a ministry
official said.
The Incheon airport was also ranked the top among large
airports with more than 25 million and less than 40 million passengers per year
with Singapore's Changi Airport named the best among the world's largest
airports with more than 40 million passengers a year.
South Korea's
Gimpo International Airport, also serving as a gateway to Seoul, has been named
the airport with the best service quality among mid-sized airports with annual
passengers between 15 million and 25 million.
