Hyundai Steel, a South Korean steelmaker, said Monday that it won a European
Union (EU) quality certification that could help expand overseas sales of its
products.
The company that has an integrated steel mill in Dangjin,
123 kilometers south of Seoul, said seven of its back plates received the
European conformity, or CE-mark, from Britain's Lloyd's Register Quality
(LRQ).
The pressure equipment directive (PED) certification won by
Hyundai's products testifies to the quality and safety of the product and is
necessary for sale within the EU.
"The winning of the latest PED
CE-mark can help sales in Europe and other parts of the world," the steelmaker
said.
Hyundai Steel said it previously won Europe's construction
products directive (CPD) certificate in 2010, which highlighted the overall
quality of the products in churns out.
Besides the PED and CPD,
Europe's quality certification system issues the marine equipment directive for
steel products used offshore.
