South Korean exports of used vehicles jumped 20 percent in 2011 from a year
earlier, with Jordan remaining the largest importer for the fourth consecutive
year, a local trade agency said Tuesday.
According to the Korea
Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), South Korea shipped 92,450 units of
pre-owned automobiles to Jordan last year, or 30 percent of its entire used-car
export volume of 289,161 units.
Two the most popular cars among the
Jordanian middle class are the Avante and the Accent, subcompact cars both
manufactured by South Korea's largest automaker Hyundai Motor Co., it
said.
KOTRA estimated that South Korean automakers claim about 60
percent of the Jordanian automobile market.
Other major importers of
used cars from South Korea were Russia with 29,753 units, followed by Mongolia
with 20,835 units, according to KOTRA.
