Japanese investors who make investment in Gwangju set up a consultative group and held an opening ceremony last Tuesday at Gwangju City Hall.
Koizumi Hiromi, CEO of Alps Electric Korea, was appointed the chairman of the consultative group.
The group aims at strengthening economic cooperation between Gwangju and Japan, serving as a supporter for Japanese companies seeking to make a foray into the Korean market.
Koizumi said, "The establishment of the consultative group will not only facilitate communication among Japanese companies but expand Japan's investment to Gwangju."
As of 2011, 23 Japanese companies did operation in Gwangju, generating 500 billion won of sales revenue and 2,200 jobs.
