North Gyeongsang Province (Gyeongbuk) signed a $12 million-investment memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the US medical equipment manufacturer FTI in early August.
Under the MOU, the US company will build a factory for cutting-edge glucose measurement devices and high-speed precise blood analyzers in Gumi, Gyeongbuk in the next five years.
The glucose measurement device enables patients with diabetes to measure their glucose level themselves by analyzing protein in saliva, instead of blood, and the blood analyzer has the advantage of taking less time both in production and analysis by utilizing nano technology.
