Jeonnam Research Institute unveiled 13 regional growth engine projects ahead of the presidential election, scheduled to be held in December: leisure town; northeast Asia's marine tourism complex; convergence industrial valley; undersea high-speed railway; eco-road along Seomjin River; next-generation high-tech logistics complex; northeast Asia's healthcare hub; next-generation smart material industrial mecca; Yeongsan River's renaissance project; airport and aviation industrial complex; transportation network for archipelago; luxurious residential, educational and shopping complex; eco-friendly fisheries infrastructures.
By area, Jeonnam's western region set up a new vision on enhancing exchange with China and focusing on the marine tourism industry and proclaimed 24 projects including boosting the blue economy, designating and developing a free economic zone in the southwest Jeonnam and building a medical school.
Gwangju announced 21 projects including attracting Korea Carbon Exchange and establishing northeast Asia's healthcare valley and Honam's national therapy belt and a national cardiovascular disease center.
Jeonnam's eastern area also presented 23 projects including developing a new port that can replace Yeosu New Port and building Yeosu-Dolsan-Hwayang-Goheung Bridge and Hanryeo Bridge.
