The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), one of South Korea’s leading business lobby groups, has opened its third overseas office in Germany.

According to the KCCI on Monday, the opening of the office in Frankfurt follows the openings of overseas branches in Beijing, China, in 1993, and Hanoi, Vietnam in 2009.

“The Frankfurt office will seek strategic responses to joint issues between the two countries,” the KCCI said.

The office opening marks 141 years of diplomatic relations between Korea and Germany and the 140th anniversary of the KCCI‘s founding.

Germany is home to the largest number of Korean companies (more than 880) in Europe. The trade volume between the two countries reached $33.9 billion in 2023.

The latest office will serve as an economic cooperation platform for businesses from both countries in collaboration with the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce and the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the KCCI said.

To commemorate the opening of the German office, the KCCI held a roundtable discussion on Monday to analyze the latest European Union (EU) election results and predict future policy changes. The European Parliament elections were held across 27 countries from June 6 to 9.
