S. Korea to export chicken products to Britain
Date

According to Yonhap News,

South Korea's agriculture ministry said Tuesday that the country has received the nod from Britain to ship heat-treated chicken products to the European nation.

The approval will allow South Korea to export a wide array of related products, including traditional chicken soup, or "samgyetang," according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

"We have thoroughly reviewed the sanitary and quarantine conditions for shipping heat-treated chicken products to Britain and have completed all necessary procedures to begin exports, including the preparation of the required documentation," the ministry said.

South Korea reached a sanitary and quarantine agreement with the European Union for chicken products in December last year and began efforts in January to secure a similar deal with Britain, which left the EU in 2020.

The country shipped its first batch of samgyetang to the EU in May.

"The government will proactively provide support, including marketing events, finding new buyers and retailers, and establishing joint overseas logistics centers, to help spread Korean food culture abroad," Agriculture Minister Song Mi-ryung said in a statement.
