The Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA) announced on Friday that it will expand collaboration with the Korea Association of Robot Industry (KAR) to foster convergence between the mobility and robotics sectors.
The two associations aim to help South Korean companies improve their competitiveness in the global market through this partnership.
KAMA and KAR signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Thursday during the 2024 Robotworld exhibition held at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.
The agreement outlines their commitment to work together on promoting technological integration and supporting new developments.
The joint initiative will focus on several areas, including facilitating technology convergence, developing innovative technologies, identifying relevant policies, and organizing industry events such as conferences and exhibitions.
Efforts to expand international cooperation projects will also be prioritized under the new partnership.
KAMA said that the mobility and robotics industries share core technologies, including sensors, motors, control systems, batteries, and artificial intelligence (AI) and through collaboration, both industries can further develop these technologies.
