The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is considering creating a new division responsible for artificial intelligence (AI) industry policies.

According to the ministry on Sunday, it is internally reviewing the plan to create a new AI-dedicated division.

Once internal review is done, it plans to hold discussions with other ministries, including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Science and ICT.

The division, once created, will be responsible for oversight of AI industry-related initiatives, which are allocated across multiple departments in the ministry.

The new division is expected to accelerate the ministry’s effort to ensure reliable AI industry policies.
