According to Yonhap News,
A total of nine memorandums of understanding (MOUs) between South Korean and Central American businesses were signed at a business forum held earlier this week, the finance ministry said Wednesday.
The two-day event, co-hosted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration, took place in San Jose, Costa Rica, and concluded on Tuesday (local time), according to the ministry.
During the forum, 25 South Korean companies and 81 Central American firms held a total of 306 separate meetings, resulting in the nine MOUs valued at approximately US$580,000.
The event marked the first business forum held in Central America following the signing of a free trade agreement between South Korea and a group of Central American countries in 2018.
The ministry said it plans to hold the forum as a regular event to further strengthen cooperation and solidarity between the two sides.
A startup competition was also held on the sidelines of the event, featuring companies showcasing innovations and products in fields such as smart agriculture and health care, the ministry said.
