According to Pulse by Maeil Business News Korea,

The Jeonnam 1 Offshore Wind Farm, South Korea’s inaugural private-led offshore wind project, has commenced trial operations.

SK E&S announced on Monday the start of these operations for the 96-megawatt (MW) offshore wind farm, located in the public waters northwest of Jaeun Island in Sinan County, South Jeolla Province.

The project aims to begin commercial operations by March 2025.

In 2023, the farm became the first private offshore wind initiative in the country to secure funding based solely on the project’s creditworthiness.

Prime Minister Han Duck-soo visited the site to commemorate the commencement of trial operations.

He held discussions with SK E&S President Choo Hyung-wook and South Jeolla Governor Kim Yung-rok.

Prime Minister Han emphasized that the promotion of offshore wind energy would strengthen the nation’s energy security and position South Jeolla as a leader in renewable energy.

The successful completion of Jeonnam 1 Offshore Wind Farm is expected to catalyze further private investment, accelerating the development of what is projected to become the world’s largest offshore wind farm in the region.
