Established in 1902, the United States-based 3M manufactures 55,000 products, including office supplies, medical products and electronics. It is the world’s largest producer of industrial-use glue, with sales totaling $22.9 billion in 2012.
3M collaborated with Korea’s Doosan Group in 1977 to establish 3M Korea, with 3M acquiring all shares in 1996. Last year, 3M Korea recorded total sales of KRW 1.35 trillion, operating profit of KRW 170.1 billion and exports of KRW 350 billion. Korea’s large corporations, including Hyundai Motor and Samsung Electronics, account for 70 percent of the total sales.
