Invest Korea, the investment promotion arm of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), and the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy (MOTIE) held investor relations (IR) events in five major cities of China January 22-29 along with the Korea Agency for Saemangeum Development and Investment, the ChungBuk Free Economic Zone Authority, the City of Busan and the Kaesong Industrial Complex.
The IR events were carried out in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Wuhan and Chengdu to attract Chinese investment in Korea by maximizing the free trade agreement (FTA) between Korea and China. Chinese investors had the opportunity to learn about Korea’s investment environment, major industries and industrial locations. At the Shanghai and Beijing IR sessions, the participating Korean institutions explained Korea’s investment opportunities based on the Korea-China FTA. They also introduced Korea’s growth engines, including IT, research and development and renewable energy, and promoted the industrial sites of the Saemangeum Korea-China economic cooperation complex, the City of Busan, the ChungBuk Free Economic Zone Authority and the Kaesong Industrial Complex. The Guangzhou IR session focused on Korea’s cultural contents and tourism industries and was attended by about 300 businessmen who also took part in a Korea-China development forum being held at the same time in Guangzhou. The Wuhan and Chengdu IR sessions introduced the investment environment of Korea’s service sector.
The IR events also included an investment fair for Korean and Chinese companies and a counseling session participated in by potential investors including the Fosun Group and Baidu.
