MOTIE Minister Yoon Sang-jick hosted a breakfast meeting with the heads of foreign-invested companies and foreign business associations in Seoul today to promote South Korea as a global business hub.
About 40 guests, including Rochus Bergmann, president and CEO of Siemens Energy Solutions and Amy Jackson, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea, attended the meeting to learn about the country’s foreign investment policy.
In a keynote speech, Minister Yoon stressed that South Korea’s extensive global network of free trade agreements (FTAs), such as the recently-concluded pact with China, would provide great opportunities for foreign companies seeking a global market.
MOTIE plans to take various measures so that South Korea can attract a record $20 billion in foreign investment this year, especially from China by leveraging the upcoming FTA with the world’s largest trader and second largest economy.
The IR events also included an investment fair for Korean and Chinese companies and a counseling session participated in by potential investors including the Fosun Group and Baidu.
