Conducted environmental protection education contents donation activities on the Indonesian island of Java with domestic startups
KOTRA is engaged in a ‘Global CSR Activity’ that donates educational content to disseminate the importance of environmental protection to 11 international and local schools located on Java Island in eastern Indonesia. This activity was planned to foster ESG awareness among Indonesian youth.
KOTRA has been working on the global CSR project 'Earth School' together with Company E, a domestic educational content startup, producing 9 educational videos 2 textbooks that explain △the concept of sustainable development △the necessity of environmental conservation, and △how to participate in environmental protection. These materials will be adopted as ESG learning materials for the youth at 11 international schools and local schools from January next year in East Java Island, Indonesia, including Surabaya, Bali, and Malang.
Wendy Woodhurst, Principal of Surabaya Intercultural School, said, “As environmental protection and social values are essential for the development of sustainable society, it is important to educate the youth to have right ESG awareness," adding “The educational contents donated by KOTRA will be the first step for Indonesian students to understand the concept of ESG.”
Starting with the educational contents donation ceremony at Surabaya Intercultural School on December 9, KOTRA plans to complete the donation of contents to the 11 schools by visiting or sending mail, to be determined after considering local situations concerning COVID-19, by the middle of this month.
Kim Jun-sung, head of KOTRA's Surabaya Business Center, said, "ESG is no longer a choice, but a demand of the people and consumers of the times." adding "we will continue to carry out global CSR activities to fulfill social responsibility to the local community to realize ESG management."
