‘Mobile Vision in Shenzhen’ forum and business meetings to be held in Shenzhen, Guangdong on May 12
Tencent, Vivo, BYD, TCL, and other China's leading companies to participate...enhance Korea-China business cooperation

KOTRA said it will hold 'Mobile Vision in Shenzhen' forum as a preview project of ‘GMV(Global Mobile Vision) 2022’ along with Tencent, China's largest IT convergence company, and Vivo, China's No.1 player in the smartphone area in Shenzhen, Guangdong on May 12.

GMV is Korea's largest ICT specialized export platform, which has been held every year since 2008. In particular, this year's GMV is to be held for two days from May 17, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of KOTRA's foundation. The forum, to be held in Shenzhen - the mecca of China's IT industry - is expected to contribute to creating the celebratory atmosphere for the 30th anniversary of Korea-China diplomatic relationship.

From China's side, an official from 'Tencent', China's largest IT company, will attend as a speaker. Tencent is operating WeChat, China's most popular messenger with 1.26 billion monthly subscribers, and also a global No.1 game company, with the largest market capitalization in China (KRW 1100 trillion/global No.10). Tencent is planned to make presentation on 'China's DX cases by industry using cloud and trends & desired areas of cooperation with Korea'. Following the forum, GMV business meetings will ensue where 6 Chinese IT companies including △ Vivo and Oppo, No.1 and No.2 smartphone manufacturers in China, respectively, △ BYD, China's No.1 and the world's 3rd largest electric car maker, △ ZTE, China's No.2 and the world's 4th largest communication equipment provider, and △TLC, the world's 3rd largest TV manufacturer are set to have in-depth consulting with Korean companies.

A Tencent official said "Korea is a IT leader, which was the first to commercialize 5G in the world, and has a lot of areas for cooperation with China, which is pushing for digital transformation such as big data, 5G, and AI," adding "we hope to have partnership with Korean companies in the fields of cloud, metaverse, and XR (AR/VR) technology areas."

Jung Oi-young, head of KOTRA's Innovative Growth Division, said, "China is greatly expanding investment in new infrastructure including so-called D.N.A (Data, Network, A.I.) at the national level, and companies are accelerating digital transformation as a strategy for survival at the same time," adding "we hope this event, attended by global IT companies leading China's digital transformation, will serve as an opportunity for Korean companies to enter new Chinese markets."
