KOTRA and Hanam-si signed an MoU to promote trade and investment on Oct. 24.
Set to start attracting global companies' investment in Hanam City as well as advancing into overseas markets

KOTRA (President & CEO Yu Jeong-yeol) and Hanam-si (Mayor Lee Hyun-jae) signed a MoU on Oct. 24 at KOTRA headquarters in Yeomgok-dong, to “revitalize the local economy through trade and investment promotion.”

The agreement mainly deals with △Exchanges of data and information on trade and investment trends, △Implementation of cooperative projects for Hanam-based enterprises' making forays into overseas markets, and △Cooperation in finding and carrying out joint cooperation projects such as business exchanges and dispatch of the investment promotion delegation for the foreign investment promotion in the city.

Owing to the recent increase in population inflow, Hanam-si is forecast to have a population of 400,000* by 2028. Yet, due to the large proportion of development restricted areas in the city, there are many restrictions on natural development. Accordingly, the city unveiled its plan to expand the local industrial infrastructure with self-sufficiency.

To this end, it plans to develop K-Star World (Korean Wave Culture and Video Complex) in Misa-dong, near the Hangang waterfront area; Gyosan New Town; the returning land in the U.S. Army Camp Colbern; and attract domestic and foreign companies and investors suitable for the region.

KOTRA is poised to contribute to the revitalization of the local economy by comprehensively supporting the overseas expansion of companies at home and investment attraction of companies abroad through 36 investment promotion hubs out of 128 KOTRA offices in 83 countries around the world. Mayor Lee said, “Through this agreement, we hope that KOTRA will become a reliable partner for enterprises in Hanam-si to advance overseas, and share with the city, particularly, policies and information for promoting industries, companies and investment.”

"Using KOTRA's international network, we will actively push forward with the joint cooperation plan such as exploring global investors and supporting local enterprises' entering overseas markets." KOTRA President Yu mentioned.
