The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Minister Ahn Duk-geun) and KOTRA (President Yu Jeong-yeol) will hold ‘Innovations from Seoul 2024’, a startup pitching event, in Dubai, UAE, on May 7.
The event, which marks its third anniversary this year, is organized jointly by Invest Seoul (Director Gu Bon-hi) and Seoul Fintech Lab (CEO Kwon Young-eun) to support Korea's high-tech start-ups to enter the Middle East. In addition, it is jointly organized with Capital Club Dubai, a social gathering of local investors and government agencies, to help Korean start-ups expand their local networks.
Ten Korean startups based in Seoul, including: Autocrypt, a security and mobility platform company; Lord System, a Mobile passport platform company; Funble, a company specializing in token securities issuance and trading systems, are going to participate in the event. In addition, officials from major venture capitals such as MEVP, Flat6labs, Shorooq Partners, and local organizations including ADGM, DIFC, will also be present at the event.
The program consists of: each startup pitching plans to enter the Middle East; introducing core technologies and specialties of the project; and networking with investors and government agencies of the Middle East. A five-member panel of judges who are leading local investors will openly share opinions and suggestions on strategies for entering the Middle East factoring in the content of the startup's pitching.
Park Dong-wook, head of KOTRA's Middle East regional headquarters, said, "UAE is a battleground where innovative companies from all over the Middle East compete, and it is the best market for startups wishing to enter the Middle East to test their marketability and gauge their chances of entering the Middle East," adding that "KOTRA will also actively support our startups through local network and customized matching with investors to help them expand their base across the Middle East beyond the UAE."
