KOTRA's Foreign Investment Ombudsman held a meeting with Chinese foreign-invested companies on May 8
On May 8, the Foreign Investment Ombudsman held a "Foreign Investment Ombudsman, National Tax Service (NTS), and the China Chamber of Commerce in Korea (CCCK) meeting" at the President Hotel in Seoul.
It was the first meeting that the Foreign Investment Ombudsman, jointly with the NTS, held to support resolution of tax-related difficulties that Chinese companies are faced with. The meeting was participated by about 20 people including 9 CEOs of CCCK's member companies, Chairman Weiyu Yin of the CCCK, and Commissioner Kim Chang-ki of the NTS.
During the talks, the Foreign Investment Ombudsman and the NTS listened to tax-related grievances experienced by foreign-invested companies and sought resolutions. Officials from Chinese foreign-invested companies at the meeting asked to expand the application of tax benefits for those who return to work from maternity and childcare leave and those eligible for exemplary taxpayer selection.
Commissioner Kim pledged to ensure fair taxation and equal treatment for domestic and foreign companies and to establish a stable and predictable tax environment in line with global standards.
Foreign Investment Ombudsman Kim Sung-jin asked for active investment of foreign-invested companies despite challenging global environment, emphasizing the continued efforts to improve investment environment to help companies engage in stable management activities.
