Set out to Attract Swiss high-tech materials, parts, and equipment companies to Korea

More than 50 Swiss companies in high-tech fields such as semiconductors, machinery, and electrical and electronics participated
Expect to localize the supply chain by attracting investment from Swiss companies related to materials, parts, and equipment industries


The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Minister Ahn Duk-geun) and KOTRA (President Yu Jeoung-yeol) held a "2024 Korea Switzerland Partnership Seminar" in Zurich, Switzerland on October 3 to attract local advanced materials, parts, and equipment companies to Korea.

In the event, jointly held with Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE), 50 or more Swiss companies in high-tech materials, parts, and equipment in the areas including: semiconductor' electricity, electronics; bio and pharmaceutical; space and aviation; and manufacturing solutions participated.

Invest KOREA, a national agency dedicated to attracting investment, made presentations on the latest trends of Korea's major high-tech industries, including semiconductor, secondary battery, and bio and pharmaceuticals, and the government's investment promotion policies. In addition, S-GE introduced Korea as a trading partner, and explored the opportunities for Swiss companies to enter the Korean market.

In particular, Swiss companies in semiconductor-related materials, parts, and equipment showed great interest in the policy to foster a large-scale semiconductor cluster that Korea is pursuing recently. Swiss materials, parts, and equipment companies in the electronics and electric field also have great interest in the Korean market as they are going ahead with expansion in the global market based on digital and eco-friendly technologies.

Commissioner Kim Tae-hyung of Invest KOREA said, "Korea's manufacturing industry will take a big leap forward through introduction of AI technologies, response to climate change, and diversification and stabilization of supply chain," adding that "if Swiss materials, parts, and equipment companies make investment in the Korean market, it will act as a great opportunity for both countries."
