2024.10.16

1,000 global buyers from 62 countries to visit Korea during 2 weeks from Oct 16 to Oct 31
Collaborate with 20 industry exhibitions, connected with export marketing and tourism programs of MCST and local governments
Expect the expansion of business outcomes and strong exports to lead to revitalization of local economy

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and KOTRA will hold "Boom-up Korea Week", which will support business deals between Korean companies and invited buyers from around the world for two weeks from October 16 (Wed) to October 31.

Whereas previous Boom-ups were mainly organized as a single export consultation, this year's Boom-up will be held on an unprecedented scale in a new format of "Boom-up Korea Week", integrating 20 industry exhibitions and cultural tour programs. Korea's excellent companies will showcase their products and technologies to global buyers at various sites across the country, starting with Busan (Offshore Korea 2024) on October 16, followed by Seoul (Korea Electronics Show and Semiconductor Exhibition), Daegu (International Future Auto & Mobility Expo 2024), and Ilsan (RobotWorld 2024 and the Korea International Construction Equipment Exhibition ).

The main characteristics of this "Boom-up Korea Week" are as follows. First of all, organizers, scope, and scale of the event have been greatly expanded. Whereas previous Boom-Ups were mainly organized by KOTRA and centered around the Seoul metropolitan area, this year's has been expanded nationwide in terms of marketing with the participation of a number of major exhibition halls nationwide (COEX, BEXCO, KINTEX, EXCO, etc.) and various export support organizations such as exhibition operators, local government bodies, and tourism organizations. With the participation of 3,000 Korean firms and 1,000 buyers, the event is also planned to be held on the largest ever scale.

This year's "Boom-Up Korea Week" is expected to serve as a central force to revitalize K-export marketing and domestic demand by integrating various exhibitions and tourism events across the country. As global buyers are able to receive integrated information on promising Korean companies during their short visits, it is expected to improve business outcomes through in-depth consultations. In addition, about 200,000 visitors and buyers to the exhibitions nationwide are led to consumption in food and accommodation, it is likely to be a chance to revitalize the exhibition industry, which previously centered around the metropolitan area, and contribute to stimulate local domestic demand.

MOTIE Minister Ahn Dukgeun stated that "I look forward to this year’s Boom-Up serving as a catalyst for Korea’s latter half export drive and revitalization of local tourism and exhibition industry, fueling the domestic economy which was recently shrinking due to inflation."

KOTRA's President Yu Jeoung-yeol said "we expect it to serve as a chance to accelerate export of Korean companies as it is the first time to connect 20 industry exhibitions and tourism support programs in KOTRA's leading export consultations aimed at the global expansion of Korean SMEs and middle market enterprises."
