MOTIE KOTRA signed an MOU with the Seoul Metropolitan Government to help foreigners settle down in Korea
Held a briefing session for foreign-invested companies and foreign chambers of commerce on Nov.8
On November 8, MOTIE and KOTRA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Seoul Metropolitan Government to support foreign-invested companies settle down in Korea. The MOU aims to leverage the infrastructure and networks of both organizations to help foreign investors and their families settle in Korea.
Under the agreement, the parties will work together to promote and expand the use of Seoul's exceptional support services for foreigners. KOTRA’s corporate network will be utilized to raise awareness and improve access to these services. Additionally, the MOU aims to apply Seoul's best practices to enhance the overall environment for foreign nationals living in Korea.
Following the MOU signing, KOTRA's Foreign Investor Support Center (KOTRA Support Center) hosted a briefing for expatriates, outlining available support programs.
The session covered key areas such as visas, finance, healthcare, and education—issues that foreign-invested companies and international chambers of commerce have identified as major challenges. Attendees also received guidance on essential procedures, including opening bank accounts, obtaining visas, and accessing Seoul's support services.
Kim Chang-hee, head of the KOTRA Support Center, stated, "By collaborating with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, home to the largest foreign population in Korea, we aim to improve the living experience of expatriates. This initiative will help enhance the overall investment environment, contribute to attracting more foreign investments, and boost the efforts to bring regional headquarters of multinational companies to Korea."
Moving forward, KOTRA plans to actively promote information related to settling in Korea by distributing guides and materials. These resources will be regularly updated and made available on the official Invest Korea website (investkorea.org).
