The Korea Disease Control Agency announced a plan to exempt those fully inoculated against COVID-19 from 14-day mandatory quarantine.
This new action is expected to be introduced from May 5th, 2021, and more details will be released by the relevant authorities.
► For those fully vaccinated in Korea
→ People who have received both vaccine doses, have tested negative and are without symptoms will not be required to enter the isolation period.
→ Instead, they will be a subject to active monitoring (a daily report of health status) during 14 days, and to be tested twice.
► For those fully vaccinated in Korea and then coming back from international travel
→ Those people will be exempted from self-quarantine when the test result is negative.
→ The exemption will not apply to those arriving from countries where virus variants are prevalent such as South Africa and Brazil.
► For those who were vaccinated overseas, the government is considering their exemption from the two-week self-quarantine based on the principle of reciprocity or accords.
