Directly commissioned by the President, the Foreign Investment Ombudsman works to resolve various grievances of foreign investors and foreign-invested companies through close cooperation with “home doctors,” who have deep knowledge and expertise in their respective fields of law, taxation, labor, environment, intellectual property, finance, immigration, etc. as well as with investment cooperation officers dispatched from the central and local governments.

These efforts have been widely recognized by foreign-invested companies in Korea and is highly regarded by international organizations including the OECD, the World Bank and UNCTAD as a best practice for providing aftercare services to foreign investors. As such, many countries around the world are benchmarking our Ombudsman system.

Nevertheless, we will not stop here. The OFIO will continue to spare no effort in resolving the very last issue faced by foreign investors already doing business here and potential investors who see Korea as a possible investment destination.
