Ombudsman's Message
Warm greetings to all foreign investors!
The Office of the Foreign Investment Ombudsman (OFIO) was established in 1999 to provide aftercare support and grievance resolution services for foreign investors and foreign-invested companies in Korea.
Directly commissioned by the President, the Foreign Investment Ombudsman works to resolve various grievances of foreign investors and foreign-invested companies through close cooperation with “home doctors,” who have deep knowledge and expertise in their respective fields of environment, energy, pharmaceutical, intellectual property, labor, and others, with the cooperation of both central and local governments.
These efforts have been widely recognized by foreign-invested companies in Korea and are highly regarded by international organizations including the OECD, the World Bank, and UNCTAD, as a best practice for providing aftercare services to foreign investors. As such, many countries around the world are benchmarking our Ombudsman system.
Foreign-invested companies have been a crucial part of our economy, contributing significantly not only to job creation, exports, and increased investment but also to enhancing industrial competitiveness. The Ombudsman is committed to actively supporting all foreign-invested companies to operate smoothly and continuously expand their investments. This will lay the foundation for creating an investment environment where foreign-invested companies and the South Korean economy can grow together.
The Foreign Investment Ombudsman is always by your side. Please do not hesitate to contact our office whenever you encounter any inconvenience, grievance, or problem. You can always reach us via phone, email, in person, or by whatever means necessary. We are committed to working with foreign investors to find the best solutions and address any concerns.
Thank you.
Foreign Investment Ombudsman
