• Background: Company H has experienced difficulties in management due to the rising importation of second-hand copy machines for the last couple of years, but has managed to recover its performance based on the system revised since March of 2012. The revised system requires imported second-hand copy machines to go through a safety inspection for each model by an authorized safety inspection agency before customs clearance. And, it allows customs clearance only after the models have passed the safety inspection.
• Main Issue: To raise the effectiveness of the revision, overall inspection, including sampling, should be thoroughly conducted and the Ombudsman informed the Korea Testing & Research Institute of such issues upon the request of Company H. |
