(Background and grievance)

Company A, supplying high purity hydrogen fluoride in Korea, planned to dispatch key researchers from the headquarters to conduct research for the semiconductor wafer's membrane process, but the facilities concerned are not yet designated as an R&D center, causing grievances related to the acquisition of stay visas for the purposes of research. 

(Resolution)

The Ombudsman filed a request with the Stay Control Department of the Ministry of Justice regarding the approval of visas, considering the need for key technical personnel, who cannot be supplied in Korea, to enter Korea and the impact expected to be made on the Korean semiconductor industry. 

The issuance of visas was completed with the approval of the Minister of Justice. 

(Result)

The entry of the researcher concerned will enable domestic research of the wafer membrane process, which is one of the key semiconductor processes. 

This event will contribute to the stabilization of supplies for the materials and equipment used in the Korean semiconductor industry.
