Grievance
(Background)
In March 10, 2021, KDCA announced that prior to the start of the COVID-19 vaccination for all citizens, temporarily Korea plans to vaccinate against the corona virus for those leaving the country for essential purposes.
This announcement did not specifically mention as to whether domestic foreign businessmen are subject to vaccination when departing overseas for essential purposes.
It was noted that there were difficulties in business activities due to uncertainty about whether foreign entrepreneurs staying in Korea for a long period of time can receive vaccines when leaving the country for economic activities.
(Grievance)
Inclusion of foreigners leaving for essential purposes in the subject of vaccination
Resoultion and Results
(Resolution)
Regarding the COVID-19 vaccination for essential purpose departures, OFIO requested KDCA that foreigners staying in Korea for a long period of time, such as foreign investors who contribute to the economic development of Korea, be included in the vaccination screening, and OFIO sent an official letter in the name of the Foreign Investment Ombudsman (Mar. 18, 2021.)
(Result)
The KDCA made a decision to vaccinate foreigners with alien registration numbers after the departure screening for essential travel.
