◦ Background
Prescribe technical standards to stimulate the use of global mobile personal communications by satellite (GMPCS) services and promote technological development
Amend the technical standards to reflect demand from GMPCS business entities for technical regulations (communication methods, types of radio emissions, etc.), thereby diversifying services provided by business entities and broadening the range of communications services provided to the public
◦ Major Provisions
In Article 7, subparagraph 2, prescribe technical standards for simplex operations to provide a wide range of services including distress signals and location information using the 1610 ㎒ ~ 1618.25 ㎒ satellite network
In Article 7, subparagraph 4, increase the frequency band to 1626.5 ㎒〜1660.5 ㎒ and add the G1D emission
In Article 7, subparagraph 5, add occupied bandwidths available for use to enhance the transmission speed of satellite transmitters that use the 1618.25 ㎒ ~ 1626.5 ㎒ satellite network
(1) Reasons for Proposal
This partial amendment to the Technical Standards for Wireless Equipment for Telecommunications Businesses aims to stimulate the use of GMPCS services and promote technological development.
(2) Major Provisions
A. Allow simplex communications under transmitter conditions to provide a wide range of services through the 1610 ㎒ ~ 1618.25 ㎒ satellite network (Article 7, subparagraph 2)
B. Increase the frequency band for transmitters using the 1627.0 ㎒∼1652.1 ㎒ frequency band to 1626.5 ㎒∼1660.5 ㎒, etc. (Article 7, subparagraph 4)
C. Increase occupied bandwidths to promote technological development, including improved transmission speeds in the 1618.25 ㎒ ~ 1626.5 ㎒ satellite network (Article 7, subparagraph 5)
D. Correct terminology concerning occupied bandwidths (Article 7, subparagraphs 3 and 4)
