○ Increase the scope of electric vehicle chargers subject to safety assurance
Increase the scope of electric vehicle chargers subject to safety assurance from up to 100kVA to up to 200kVA
○ Add products subject to safety certification
Strengthen safety control for certain end cells* through safety certification
* Refers to lithium secondary batteries that are applied to mobile phones, laptop computers, and tablet PCs, and that are end cells with an energy density of 700Wh/L and a charge voltage of not less than 4.4V
(1) Reasons for Provision
A. The frequency and risk level of safety accidents vary along the stages of the product life cycle (introduction, growth, maturity, decline) and the technological advancement thereof. Accordingly, the appropriateness of the level of control over different items subject to safety control should be periodically reviewed and adjusted.
B. There is a need to lower the level of safety control in the electrical appliances sector in accordance with the EU-Korea FTA (annex on electrical and electronic equipment).
(2) Major Provisions
A. Raise the level of safety control for one item and lower the level of safety control for six items in accordance with risk assessment results
