1. Reasons for Amendment
The Serious Accidents Punishment Act and the Enforcement Decree of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act have been amended (January 27, 2022) and accordingly, the Notice on Working Hours on Safety and Health, which, as delegated to the Minister of Employment and Labor, prescribes standards on working hours on safety and health for cases where safety officers, etc. hold other offices, has been in force since January 27, 2022.
However, the Notice is only valid until January 26, 2024 and this Amendment extends the effective period while also newly prescribing business categories with a high accident risk to which minimum additional working hours on safety and health are assigned to account for the recent frequency of accidents.
2. Major Provisions
A. Change business categories with a high accident risk (24 including anthracite mining) to guarantee more working hours on safety and health in such categories (attached Table 1).
B. Specify that the Notice shall be effective until January 26, 2026 (Addenda Article 2).
