1. Reasons for Amendment

The Child Welfare Act was amended (Act No. 19554; promulgated on July 18, 2023; to be enforced on January 19, 2024) to allow Mayors/Do Governors and heads of Si/Gun/Gu to establish and operate child victims’ shelters after considering such factors as the number of children in each region, number of cases of child abuse, and children’s gender, and to specify child victims’ shelters as a type of child welfare facility and accordingly, this Amendment modifies relevant provisions in the Rule.

2. Major Provisions

A. Prescribe establishment standards, operation, personnel, etc. for child victims’ shelters (Article 27-2 and attached Table 5 newly inserted)

B. Amend the criminal record check response form (attached Form 16)

Modify “criminal records subject to checking” in attached Form 16 to reflect the amendment (June 29, 2021) to crimes subject to criminal record checking in [Table 7] of the Enforcement Decree.
