1. Reason for revision
The proposed revision aims to preserve ecosystem safety and biological diversity by controlling the importation of certain species into Korea, primarily by designating them as invasive species (species of concern) that may cause harm to the ecosystem if introduced into Korea, in accordance with Article 2 Subparagraph 6-2 of the Act on the Conservation and Use of Biological Diversity.
2. Main contents
a. Designation of additional invasive species (Revision of Appendix of the draft)
◌ It newly designates 150 additional species* judged likely to cause harm to the ecosystem if introduced into Korea as “invasive species”.
* I.e. 5 species of mammals, 15 species of fish, 5 species of mollusks, 54 species of insects, and 71 species of plants.
