1. Reason for revision
To provide infants and toddlers with adequate nutrition in each growth period, the proposed revision aims to reasonably improve the standards and specifications of formula milk and foods for infants and toddlers, and to revise the permissible residue standards for pesticides used in Korea and abroad to provide safe food for public consumption.
2. Main contents
a. Establishment and revision of the standards and specifications for formula milk and food items
1) It is necessary to improve food types, standards and specifications for formula milk and foods to reflect the different nutritional requirements of infants and toddlers by month.
2) It is proposed to revise the food types, standards, and specifications for formula milk and food items for infants and toddlers into those for early infant, late infant, and growth periods in order to provide adequate nutrition during each of their growth periods.
3) It is proposed to with international standards and trends in the reclassification of infant and young child products, considering the nutritional requirements by month globally.
4) The proposed revision is designed to provide the basis for supplying infant formula milk and food items that provide nutrition based on infants’ growth periods.
b. Revision of Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) for pesticides in agricultural products [(418) pyrethrins, (433) picabutrazox in Appendix 4 of the draft]
1) It is necessary to reflect registration under the Pesticide Control Act, and applications for establishing MRLs for imported agricultural products.
2) It revises the pesticide residue allowance standards for pyrethrins and picabutrazox.
3) The pesticide residue allowance standards in agricultural products are reasonably revised to provide safe food for public consumption.
