1. Reason for the revision
As the Motor Vehicle Management Act has been revised (Law No. 20298; promulgated on February 13, 2024; effective from February 14, 2025; and Law No. 19724; promulgated on September 14, 2023; effective from March 15, 2025) to impose the liability to be equipped with accident recording devices on the types of motor vehicles designated by the Ordinance of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and to provide economic compensation for drivers of electric vehicles that over-display the potential driving distance on a single charge, instead of corrective measures, the proposed revision aims to establish the matters delegated by the laws and the matters required for enforcement of the systems, by designating passenger cars and passenger/cargo vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 3.85 tons or less as motor vehicles that must be equipped with accident recording devices, and by establishing the standards regarding errors in the over-display of potential driving distance on a single charge of an electric vehicle.
