1. Background
○ (Policy background) Following the designation and certification of disaster and safety new technologies and products under the Framework Act on the Promotion of Disaster and Safety Industries, instances of false or exaggerated advertising have been identified, highlighting the need for appropriate regulatory measures.
○ (Need for government intervention) To promote sound development of the disaster and safety industry and encourage innovation while preventing harm caused by misleading claims, a minimum level of government oversight and control is deemed necessary.
2. Regulatory Details
○ Addition of a new subparagraph (No. 6) to Article 15, Paragraph 1 of the Framework Act on the Promotion of Disaster and Safety Industries
– A new cancellation ground will be established, allowing the government to revoke the designation of a disaster and safety new technology if false or exaggerated claims are made regarding its quality or performance.
