- Despite the sound measurement method changing from the "Bang Machine" to the "Impact Ball" in August 2022, current regulations allow the extension of existing approved structures without requiring performance re-measurement. This allows older, low-performance products to remain on the market.
- Therefore, extending the validity of older products will now require performance verification under the current method to gradually phase out old products.
- Additionally, the post-construction performance inspection system introduced in August 2022 uses the Bang Machine at sites before completion. Aligning the pre-approval and post-inspection methods will minimize socio-economic costs such as unnecessary repair work or construction delays caused by unmet standards.

2. Regulatory Content

- When applying to extend the approval of floor impact sound insulation structures previously approved under the Bang Machine method, performance must be re-verified using the Impact Ball test under the August 2022 standards.
- Extensions will only be granted if current standards are met.
