1. Background of Promotion

- Due to the abolition of age adjustment for noise-induced hearing loss in 2020*, industrial accident compensation is being provided even for presbycusis (age-related hearing loss) that occurs decades after retirement. As a result, the amount of disability benefits paid for noise-induced hearing loss has increased 23-fold over the past 10 years.
- Accepted the court ruling that age adjustment (Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service guidelines) without a legal basis is illegal.
- Improve the rationality of disability benefit payment standards by distinguishing presbycusis when determining noise-induced hearing loss diseases.

2. Regulatory Content

- If the age at the time of diagnosis of noise-induced hearing loss is 70 years or older, the final hearing loss is calculated by deducting the age-based adjustment value (minimum 1 dB to maximum 23 dB).
